Intelligence layer

  • Native AI in workflows

    NextEAM

Inline AI on WO, PM, asset, and ⌘K from day one. Tenant-scoped retrieval with citations.

    IBM Maximo

Maximo Application Suite adds AI as paid modules. Bolted on top of the original architecture.

    NextEAM
  • Predictive asset health

    NextEAM

Asset health scoring from meter, WO, inspection, and downtime data on every asset, included.

    IBM Maximo

Maximo Monitor + Predict are separate licensed add-ons with their own data pipeline.

    NextEAM

Deployment + cost

  • Typical deployment time

    NextEAM

4–8 weeks from signed agreement to live tenant with seeded asset registry.

    IBM Maximo

9–18 months for a typical enterprise rollout, longer for highly customised environments.

    NextEAM
  • Licensing cost

    NextEAM

About 1/3 the per-seat cost of equivalent Maximo licensing. Founding-customer 50% off year one.

    IBM Maximo

Premium per-seat pricing plus add-on modules and integrator services.

    NextEAM

KSA + sovereignty

  • KSA data residency

    NextEAM

Hosted in Riyadh on Alibaba Cloud by default. PDPL DPA documented.

    IBM Maximo

IBM Cloud has KSA region availability but most Maximo customers run on customer-managed infrastructure with significant compliance scope.

    NextEAM
  • Bilingual EN / AR

    NextEAM

Arabic-first UI with native RTL, Hijri-aware scheduling, Saudi business calendar.

    IBM Maximo

Arabic translation available but the UI was not built RTL-first. Hijri scheduling is custom work.

    NextEAM

User experience

  • Mobile / field worker UX

    NextEAM

PWA with scan-first bottom nav, offline queue, voice notes, barcode lookup. Built into the platform.

    IBM Maximo

Maximo Mobile is a separate product. Has feature parity but a different design philosophy from the desktop UI.

    NextEAM
  • Modern UX patterns

    NextEAM

Command palette ⌘K, saved views, density toggle, inline editors. Designed for the 7am operator, not the integrator.

    IBM Maximo

UI was modernised in v7.6 but still reflects 1990s information-architecture conventions in many surfaces.

    NextEAM

Platform + integration

  • Feature breadth

    NextEAM

42 modules covering EAM + procurement + training + compliance. Growing.

    IBM Maximo

Deep feature breadth from 30+ years of enterprise development. Wider than NextEAM in some niche industries.

    Competitor
  • Integration ecosystem

    NextEAM

REST + GraphQL + webhooks. Reference integrations for SAP FICO and Oracle Fusion in the Growth tier.

    IBM Maximo

Mature middleware ecosystem (MAS Integrator, MEA) with hundreds of certified partners.

    Competitor
  • Deployment models

    NextEAM

SaaS, Dedicated Cloud, or On-Premises — same codebase, portable between models.

    IBM Maximo

IBM Cloud SaaS, MAS on Red Hat OpenShift, or on-prem. Different operating models.

Be honest

When Maximo wins

Maximo wins when your team is already trained on it, your integrator is contractually locked in, and the change-management cost of moving outweighs the modernisation gain. It is a serious platform with serious users, and we respect that.

And then

When NextEAM wins

NextEAM wins when you need modern UX, AI built into the workflow rather than bolted on, deployment in months instead of years, and KSA-sovereign hosting — at roughly a third of the licensing cost.

Migration

Moving from Maximo to NextEAM

Most Maximo migrations are 4–8 weeks for a phased cutover. We import asset registry, work-order history, PM schedules, and spare-parts catalog via reference scripts. Maximo can keep running in read-only mode during transition.
